Welcome to the website for the German Visa Application Centers in North India.

This site provides information on procedures applicable to residents in North India who wish to apply for a visa to travel to Germany as their main country of destination in the Schengen Area.

The visa applications will be submitted at the German Visa Application Centers in accordance with the jurisdiction specified. All applications will be decided by the German Embassy in New Delhi only.

Applicants who wish to apply for a Schengen visa to Germany, kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being delayed or declined due to inadequate or incorrect submission of documents.

The German Visa Application Centers accept applications for a Schengen Visa (short term including Tourism, Visit to Family and Friends, Business and Transit) for the submission at the German Embassy in New Delhi. This applies within the following area of jurisdiction:

The states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand as well as the Union territories of Chandigarh, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep including Minicoy and Amini.

Schengen Visa

Schengen visa have to be obtained from the embassy or consulate of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before making your application to the German Embassy. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the embassy or the consulate where you will be staying for the maximum number of days, or from the point of first entry into the Schengen countries, if the duration of stay is the same in more than one Schengen country.

The applicants fulfilling the below mentioned criteria need not appear for the personal interview at the German Embassy.

All those who have travelled on at least two Schengen visas within the last 24 months prior to the date of application.
Applicants holding a previous visa with a validity of one, two or five years and have travelled on this visa within the last 24 months according to the Schengen regulations (max. stay in the Schengen area of 90 days per 6 months) prior to the date of application.

National Visa

Applicants can book an appointment for National Visa (Long Term) through our Helpline number: 0120-6641070.

Applicants will have to appear for a personal interview directly at the German Embassy with all necessary documents.

*National Visa include the following categories where the duration of stay in Germany is more than 90 days - Work Permit, Student, German Classes, Family Reunion, Au Pair, Specialty Cook, Medical Treatment, Guest Scientist and Visiting Scholars.

Upon receipt of the approval letter from the embassy, applicants may submit their passport along with the approval letter for the visa issuance at VFS Delhi centre. A logistic fee of Rs 347 will be charged per passport for this service.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Travelers may submit their applications personally or through a representative of their choice at the VFS Application Centre or through travel agents.
All first time travelers may submit their application personally or through a representative of their choice with letter of authorization from the applicant bearing the name of the representative. The representative has to carry a valid photo ID proof which has to be produced at VFS at the time of submission.

Applicants can however also submit their visa applications directly to the German Embassy, for which they can contact the Visa Section of the German Embassy between 1.30 p.m - 4.30 p.m. Tel.: 011-44199143 (Monday - Thursday) or send an email to visaservice@newd.diplo.de in order to schedule an appointment. A visa application cannot be submitted without prior appointment. Appointments for direct submission are limited and subject to availability. Please note that appointments for an application of a German National Visa (for a stay in Germany above 90 days) can only be scheduled via VFS and not via the Embassy


REFUND PROCESS

If the German Embassy returns the Demand Draft, it can be refunded in the form of a cheque favoring either in the name of the applicant or the Travel Agency. Kindly mention the name in BOLD letters in whose favor the cheque needs to be made.

Please note that Travel Agents and Representatives can submit the Demand Drafts for refund between 08:00-10:00 (Monday-Friday) and the cheque will also be given during the same time.

Documents which are mandatory at the time of refund:

1. Original Demand Draft
2. Original ICR
3. Passport Photocopy of the applicant
4. Letter from the applicant
5. Authority Letter from the Travel Agency or Company
6. Photo ID proof of the travel agent or representative

Please note that refunds will not be executed if the original ICR is missing.

Important Points

Please note that the place of issue of the passport is of no relevance when applying for a visa, if the applicant is not residing in the jurisdiction of North India, they will have to provide proper proof of residence in the form of appointment letter, rent deed, utility bills and personal bank statements for last six months.

Passports with the observation except of date of expiry, change of address, Spouse or parents’ name endorsed are not accepted by the German Embassy.

Applicants or Travel Agents are requested to collect the interview packets before the interview.

The submission and collection of your visa application and passport from VFS can be done either by the applicant himself/herself or through any authorized person who bears an authorization letter and photo-ID.

Holders of Indian Diplomatic Passports do not need a visa to travel to Germany for a short term visit of up to 90 days.

The processing time for certain nationals, including holders of Indian IC (Tibet), Afghanistan, Nigeria, Iraq and Iran (among others) is at least 10 days.
