The visa applications will be submitted at the German Visa Application Centers
in accordance with the jurisdiction specified. All applications will be decided

who wish to apply for a Schengen visa to
Germany
, kindly read the information on this site carefully. The
guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as
accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being
delayed or declined due to inadequate or incorrect submission of documents.
The German Visa Application Centres accept applications for a Schengen Visa
(short term including Tourism, Visit to Family and Friends, Business and
Transit) for the submission at the German Embassy in New
Delhi
. This applies within the following area of jurisdiction:
The states of Haryana,
Himachal
Pradesh,
Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab,
Rajasthan,
Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh,
Uttarakhand as well as the Union territories of
Chandigarh,
Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
Lakshadweep
including Minicoy and Amini.

Schengen
Information
Schengen visa have to be obtained from the embassy or consulate of the country
where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel
plans before making your application to the German Embassy. In case of travel
to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the embassy or
the consulate where you will be staying for the maximum number of days, or from
the point of first entry into the Schengen countries, if the duration of stay
is the same in more than one Schengen country.
Schengen
Visa
Frequent travelers may submit their applications personally or through a
representative of their choice at the VFS Application Centre or
through travel agents.
All first time travelers may submit their application personally or through a
representative of their choice with letter of authorization from the applicant
bearing the name of the representative. The representative has to carry a valid
photo ID proof which has to be produced at VFS at the time of submission.
With effect from 17th March 2008, applicants who have been furnished with at
least two Schengen visa within the last 24 months prior to the date of
application and have traveled on both the visa and returned to India on/or
before the date of expiry of the visa
or
have been furnished with a visa with a validity of one, two or five years and
have traveled on this visa within the last 24 months according to the Schengen
regulations (maximum stay in the Schengen area of 90 days per 06 months) prior
to the date of application.
The applicant is not required to appear for an interview at the German
Embassy, all others who do not fulfill this criteria have to make an
appointment for interview through VFS during submission of the documents.
Applicants
can however also submit their visa applications directly to the German Embassy,
for which they can contact the Visa Section of the German Embassy between 1.30
p.m - 4.30 p.m.

order to schedule an appointment. A visa application cannot be submitted
without prior appointment. Appointments for direct submission are limited and
available from Monday to Thursday.
National
Visa
Applicants
can book an appointment for National Visa (Long Term) through our Helpline
number Tel:011-42530000. Applicants have to appear for a personal interview
directly at the German Embassy with all necessary documents.
*National
Visa include the following categories where the duration of stay in Germany is
more than 90 days - Work Permit, Student, German Classes, Family Reunion, Au
Pair, Speciality Cook, Medical Treatment, Guest Scientist and Visiting
Scholars.
Upon
receipt of the approval letter from the embassy, applicants may submit their
passport along with the approval letter for the visa issuance at VFS Delhi
centre. A logistic fee of Rs 314 will be charged per passport for this service.

Please note that the place of issue of your passport is of no relevance when
applying for a visa, if the applicant is not residing in the jurisdiction of
North India. For applying in
Delhi
or
Chandigarh
, proper proof of residence is required in form of appointment
letter, rent deed, utility bills and personal bank statements for last six
months.
The
submission and collection of your visa application and passport from VFS can be
done either by the applicant himself/herself or through any authorized person
who bears an authorization letter and photo-ID.
